MRISA (Mekong River International Schools Association) Sports & Cultural Exchange

MRISA was founded in 1998 to allow international schools in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and most recently Thailand to meet for sporting events and a cultural exchange.

The sports exchanges have a history of allowing students from different schools around our region to come together and make new friends as well as compete in different sports. The competitions have always been in good spirits with awards for team and all-stars presented for participant's skill and effort.

The schools involved include:

UNIS has a rich history of sending teams to almost every single Sports Exchange events with positive results for both boys and girls teams. Four sporting exchanges are held over the year, two for Middle School (grade 6-8) and two for High School (Grade 9-12) at different schools within the region. This involves our students travelling to another school with UNIS teacher chaperones, being hosted by a family and competing for UNIS or every second year but not this one, we will host a sports exchange ourselves. The sports involved are basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. The sporting calendar is broken into seasons for both Middle School and High School.

The MRISA Cultural Exchange takes place once a year and alternates between schools. Each cultural exchange has a specific theme which is the back-bone for the workshops and performances presented.
